Welcome to two new WRC PhD candidates
Rounak Afroz has started her Ph.D. with the Hydrology group working on an ARC Linkage project of Future Drought Analysis with project partners DPI Water. Rounak received her M.Sc and B.Sc Engineering in Water Resources from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). In her Ph.D. she will investigate the best ways to identify the causes of droughts within climate model simulations and also quantify the severity of drought in space. Rounak is working under supervision of Dr. Fiona Johnson and Professor Ashish Sharma.
Also joining the Hydrology group, Shaun Kim holds a MAppSc (Coastal Management) and BSc (Marine Science) from University of Sydney. Shaun has been working in hydrological modelling at CSIRO Land and Water since 2010. He will be working with Associate Professor Lucy Marshall to attempt to improve on current mathematical methods for quantifying model structure errors, which are intrinsic and problematic in virtually all hydrological models.
